Suita is a city in northern Osaka, about 20 minutes from Umeda. It contains Expo '70 Commemorative Park and the Tower of the Sun, the EXPOCITY complex with the Osaka Wheel and NIFREL aquarium, Panasonic Stadium Suita where Gamba Osaka play, and the Osaka site of Summer Sonic each August.

How do I get to Suita?

From Umeda, take the Midosuji subway north to Senri-Chuo, then the Osaka Monorail. From Itami Airport the monorail runs direct with no transfers. Note that the monorail is not a JR line, so a Japan Rail Pass does not cover it.

FAQ

Is Suita the same as the Expo 2025 site?

No. Suita has Expo '70 Commemorative Park, built for the 1970 World Exposition. Expo 2025 was held on Yumeshima, an island in Osaka Bay about 25 km away.

Is Suita worth a day trip from Osaka?

Yes if you are interested in the Tower of the Sun, a football match, or a large park away from the crowds. It is around 30 minutes from Umeda door to door.

Is this an official Suita City website?

No. This is an independent guide made by one person, not the municipal government.
